Payment & Pricing Guide for rentals
RoofWander keeps rentals simple and secure. This page explains prices, payments, deposits, and refunds for providers and renters.

For providers (owners)
Set your price
You set the daily rate (€25–€50 ) is typical, depending on tent and accessories). You can add price variations for extra accessories.
Requests, acceptance & payouts
- Message arrives: reply to renter questions in your RoofWander Inbox (fast replies improve conversions).
- Request arrives: you receive a booking request with dates, renter details, and an earnings preview.
- Respond within 6 days: accept or decline the request.
- If you accept: the renter is charged, your calendar is blocked, and the booking is confirmed.
- If you decline or don’t respond: the request expires and the renter is not charged.
- Payout timing: payouts are sent after the rental ends , automatically 48 hours after the return date, or when you mark the order Completed. Stripe then delivers funds in 2–7 business days depending on bank and country.
Payments
All payments and deposits on RoofWander are processed securely by Stripe using industry-standard encryption and PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure. To receive payouts, you’ll connect a Stripe account; once a booking is completed (or automatically 48 hours after the return date), the payout is initiated and typically arrives in 2–7 business days depending on your bank and country. Stripe supports major debit and credit cards (e.g., Visa, Mastercard, American Express), providing a safe, trusted checkout for your renters.
Commission
We take a 15% commission on the rental and a part of it goes to marketing to help you get more bookings. Else it's free to list your tent.
Deposit & claims
At rental start, you’ll receive an email with a claim link. If damage costs exceed the deposit, the renter remains responsible under the Terms of Service.
Cancellations
To cancel a trip you already accepted, email cancelationsupport@roofwander.com with your Order ID and a short reason. Cancellations should be exceptional.
- Penalty policy:
- First cancellation: penalty-free
- Within 24 hours of accepting: penalty-free (quick corrections allowed)
- Repeated cancellations: may reduce listing visibility or lead to suspension

For renters (customers)
What your total price includes
- Daily rental rate: set by the owner
- Fixed fee €5: covers operational costs, especially on short trips
- Refundable deposit €400: held for the trip and returned if no issues are reported
Why these fees: the €5 fee covers processing overhead on short rentals; the service fee maintains a safe, supported marketplace; owner commissions fund advertising so you can find tents near you.
How booking works
- Select dates: the total price updates automatically.
- Send a message (optional): ask the owner any question from the listing page or your Inbox.
- Request to book: your card is pre-authorized (held, not charged).
- Owner accepts: the rental is charged and the €400 deposit is captured; you receive an Order Page.
- Manage the trip: message the owner, arrange pickup and return, and track details from your Order Page.
Payments
All payments and deposits on RoofWander are processed securely by Stripe with bank-level encryption and PCI-DSS compliance. You can pay with major debit and credit cards (e.g., Visa, Mastercard, American Express); your rental is charged when the owner accepts your request, and your deposit is held and then automatically refunded 2–7 days after the rental ends if no issues are reported.
Deposit charge & refund
The deposit is charged when you book and is automatically refunded 2–7 days after the rental ends, if no issues are reported. If there’s any damage, you and the owner must fill out a damage claim (deposit claim) and send it to deposit@roofwander.com for review.
Renter cancellations
- More than 3 days before start: Full refund
- Within 3 days of start: 50% refund
- Within 24 hours of start: No refund
- Bookings made less than 3 days before start: this policy does not apply, all bookings are final
- After a booking is accepted, only RoofWander can perform the cancellation in the Console. If you must cancel after acceptance, email cancelationsupport@roofwander.com from your order email.

Pricing & discounts : for providers and renters
Longer bookings receive automatic discounts based on total trip length (one bracket applies to the whole booking):
- Days 1–4: full price
- Days 5–7: 10% off
- Days 8–10: 15% off
- Days 11–13: 20% off
- Days 14–17: 25% off
- Days 18–20: 30% off
- Days 21–23: 35% off
- Days 24+: 40% off
How it’s calculated: total = days × unitPrice × (1 − discount%)
Example: 12 days at €40/day → bracket Days 11–13 : 20% off → 12 × €40 × 0.80 = €384
(before fees and deposit).
