How do I know the rooftop tent fits my car?

Contact the owner directly for quick advice; they'll let you know if it works with your setup. In general, rooftop tents fit almost any car as long as you have roof bars. The only thing you really need to check is if your vehicle meets the required roof load capacity ( Roof load capacity).

What’s included in a typical rental?

At a minimum, every listing includes a mattress and ladder the basic essentials to use the tent. Some listings offer additional gear (like kitchen kits, awnings, or bedding) at a different price. Variations and what's included are clearly written in the listing details.

Can I cancel my booking if my plans change?

To cancel you need to send an email too cancelationsupport@roofwander.com

  • Full refund if canceled more than 3 days before start date
  • 50% refund if canceled within 3 days
  • No refund if canceled within 24 hours

Note: For bookings made less than 3 days before the rental, this policy doesn’t apply, all bookings are final.

What happens if I damage the tent?

You have to fill in the deposit claim with the owner ( deposit claim ). You are fully responsible for any damage that occurs during your rental. The owner can claim part or all of your security deposit to cover repair costs. If the damage exceeds the deposit amount, you may be required to cover the remaining cost. more info

How do I contact the owner before booking?

On the listing there is a contact button.

Will the owner help with mounting the tent?

Yes, it’s a very easy process however you are not capable of doing it without the owner unless you know the tent model.

How does the security deposit work?

The deposit is charged when you book and is automatically refunded 2–7 days after the rental ends, if no issues are reported. If there’s any damage, the you and the owner must fill out a damage claim ( deposit claim ) and send it to deposit@roofwander.com for review. more info

What’s the minimum and maximum rental period?

The minimum rental period is 3 days (2 nights), but some owners may prefer longer rentals and might decline short bookings. There’s no maximum limit, and the daily price gradually decreases after 5 days. For very long rentals, you can also contact the owner to ask him to lower his daily rate.

What commission do you take?

What happens if my tent gets damaged?

If any damage occurs, the owner must fill out the damage claim form ( >deposit claim ) and send it to deposit@roofwander.com.

  • If the damage is under €400, the amount will be deducted directly from the renter’s deposit.
  • If it’s over €400, it will take longer but don’t worry the renter is fully responsible for all damages as agreed in the Terms of Service ( TS ). We handle the process and follow up with both parties.

Can I choose who rents my tent?

Yes, anyone can contact you and send you an inquiry, however you are free to accept and decline the request. Renter get their ID verified before renting for security purposes.

What if I need to cancel a confirmed booking?

If you need to cancel a trip you previously accepted, please email us at cancelationsupport@roofwander.com with a brief explanation. Cancellations should only happen in exceptional cases. The first cancellation is penalty-free, but repeated cancellations may lead to reduced listing visibility or suspension. If you cancel within 24 hours of accepting the booking, no penalty applies; this allows room for quick corrections.

How do payouts work?

When creating your first listing, you’ll be asked to connect your bank account via Stripe (our secure payment provider). Once your tent is rented and the rental is completed, your earnings are automatically transferred to your bank account within 2–7 business days. more info

Can I block dates when my tent isn’t available?

Yes, you can edit your listing’s availability at any time. Keeping your calendar up to date helps serious renters know when your tent is available and prevents you from getting unnecessary messages for dates that don’t work. It's better for both sides.

Can I rent out other gear along with my tent?

Yes! When creating your listing, you’ll have the option to +Add a variation in the pricing section. You can use this to offer different setups for example, including extra gear like a shower, kitchen kit (…) at different prices. Just make sure to clearly describe what’s included in each variation in the title.
